For those of us fortunate enough to live in a democracy, very little is asked, but much is given. Americans are blessed with freedoms and advantages only imagined in other parts of the world. The price for this largesse is quite small; obey the laws meant to govern civil society, pay your share of taxes required to support the services provided by our government and honor your duty to serve on a jury when needed. The exercise of the right to vote is free and open elections is not required of citizens, yet it is difficult to imagine any action more vital to the success of this noble experiment of self-governance.
It is a guiding principle of the Democratic Women's Club of Bay County that every voter should be informed about issues and candidates for office, at every level of government, if they are to be effective in selecting true representatives of the people's voice. To that end, at our monthly meeting, we present informed speakers, who share their knowledge of and experience in areas of interest. We focus on everything from local to world issues, and promote a thorough study of persons seeking public office. In addition, we encourage the men and women of the DWCBC to join with other civic organizations in their efforts to improve the community.
Your curiosity has brought you to this website; we hope you find it useful. We invite you to attend one of our monthly meetings, or any of our social events, to join with friends and neighbors in an effort to be fully engaged, participating citizens of this great country.
